Science

A study of science is mandatory for all students from Kindergarten to Year 10.

In science, students explore the natural and made worlds. They learn how to apply scientific skills, knowledge and understanding across a broad range of contexts.

Science provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real-world problems. The inquiry and skill-based nature of science opens doors to ideas and discoveries.

Stage 4

In Years 7 and 8, Science is a compulsory core subject. Students actively engage individually and in teams in scientific inquiry. They gain experience in making evidence-based decisions and in communicating their understanding and viewpoints.

Stage 5

In Years 9 and 10, Science continues to be a compulsory course. Classes undergo rotations to enable students to be taught by subject matter experts for the different disciplines of science.

Stage 6

In Years 11 and 12, students can choose from different science disciplines, including, Biology, Chemistry and Physics
