Entry to selective high schools in Years 8 to 11 is based on decisions made by the local school’s selection committee and, unlike Year 7 entries, does not depend on a centralised program of entry.
Entry to the small number of places that become available in Years 8-11 each year at Normanhurst Boys High School is filled through an application including an entry test in Literacy and Numeracy as well as a review of accompanying documentation to support the student’s application. The number of places offered in each of Years 8-10 usually does not exceed five. However, there are usually 15 to 20 places available for entry into Year 11.
The entrance examinations for Years 8-11 are conducted in the school hall each year.
A selection committee, consisting of the Principal (or their nominee), a staff representative and a representative from the Parents & Citizens Association will consider each application. An interview at the school may be required before a final offer is made.
There are three steps to applying at Normanhurst Boys High School:
- Fill out an online registration form (Due 26 July 2024 4:00 pm - this form must be filled out first to generate a PDF unique to your application).
- Each application for Years 8-11 needs to be accompanied with an administration fee of $130 payable online.
- Compile the application package and have it either delivered to the school personally or via Australia Post before Friday 26 July 2024 4:00 pm. Electronic submissions (via email or otherwise) are not accepted.
⚠ Documentation will not be accepted on the day of the entrance examination.
*Supplementary supporting documentation consists of, but is not limited to, the student’s last two school reports, their last NAPLAN results, and any academic, sporting or other awards or achievements, both co-curricular and extra-curricular if applicable, etc. No originals please.
