Economics builds an understanding of contemporary economic issues such as the impact of interest rates, share value and the Australian dollar on Australians. Students learn to recognise fluctuations in the local and global economies, and how this movement affects business and employment levels. The course teaches skills in analysis, synthesis and evaluation of information from a range of sources, as well as the ability to communicate findings and ideas using various formats. Throughout, students are encouraged to use economic thinking that considers and preserves the natural environment.
