In Year 7, students develop the ability to design, produce and evaluate quality solutions in a variety of technology areas. In doing so, students learn to work safely and independently on design projects, using problem solving and practical skills with tools.
In Food and Agriculture, students use their knowledge and understanding of agricultural concepts to cook nutritious meals. In Digital Technology, they program an Arduino microcontroller to solve problems, while in Mixed Materials Technology, the focus is on the properties and characteristics of timber, aluminium and acrylic plastic (Perspex).
In Year 8, students continue developing their practical skills. In Engineering Technology, students develop their understanding of simple machines and mechanisms, going on to learn about data transmission and networking systems in Digital Technology. The Materials Technology subject sees students apply their knowledge of properties and characteristics of metals and non-metals, to make a metal barbeque spatula.
