Year 9 & 10 Industrial Technology - Engineering provides opportunities for students to develop knowledge and understanding of engineering and associated industries, as well as skills with tools, techniques and materials.
Units studied in Year 9 include:
- A Straw Tower project
- A Timber Bridge model
- A Rube Goldberg Machine which implements a range of simple and complex machines
- A Lifting Devices practical project
- An Iconic Structure research task to investigate design factors, form, function and construction challenges
Units studied in Year 10 include:
- A Mechatronic project which involves engineering a mechanical and programmable design to remove a series of cans from a conveyor belt.
- Alternate Energies projects which involve engineering a Solar Car and a Compressed Air Powered Rocket
- A Materials Properties project which involves machining and heat treating a centre punch
