
Students studying Engineering Studies in Years 11 and 12 cover a range of content areas which provide them with knowledge for life, and some of the knowledge and skills which will be used in further education. This course is suitable for students wishing to pursue a future career in specialised areas such as Engineering, Architecture or Technology. Topics covered include: Engineered Products, Brakes, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Structures, Personal and Public Transport, Aeronautical Engineering and Telecommunications.
While studying these topics, students learn about the history of the engineered system and how the solutions of the time were appropriate. They also gain knowledge about the technology and the materials of the time, as well as the forces on these materials and components. Throughout the course, students develop their ability to communicate via technical and computer aided drawing (CAD).
