In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of Music and Visual Arts.
Music forms an integral part of all cultures and is present in all our lives. It allows us to explore and share feelings and ideas and leads to a discovery of new avenues for personal expression that might not otherwise be experienced. Students who study music find it to be a creative outlet and a good way to balance the academic pressures of some of their other subjects
In Years 7 and 8, Music is a compulsory core subject, and students study Music through semesterisation. They study half a year of Music, and half a year of Visual Arts, or vice-versa.
In Years 9 and 10, students can choose to continue their enthusiasm and interest for Music through the elective course offered.
In Years 11 and 12, Music is offered as an HSC subject for students to extend their musical knowledge, and the Extension course offered in Year 12 allows them to further their learning and exploration in a specialist area of choice – musicology, composition or performance.
